Former President General (Retired) Pervez Musharraf has arrived in Oslo, the Norwegian capital city Thursday. He will participate in a gathering in connection with 70th celebrations of Pakistan’s Day arranged by Pakistan Union Norway.
Musharraf was received by a delegation of Pakistani community headed by Pakistan Union Norway’s Chairman Ch Qamar Iqbal.
The delegation was comprising Syed Zaki ul Hassan, Sheikh Fawad Anwar, Malik Pervez, Naveed Khawar, Dr Jameel Talat, Haji Asghar Dhakar, Afzal Dhakar, Haji Akram Sikriali, Shahid Munir, Shahzad Ghafoor, Nadeem Rashid, Ch Yar, Shahrukh Sohail, Shahzad Ghafoor, Nasir Mir, Malik Ibrar Bedarmirjan, Mian Sohail and M. Yasir.
Function of Pakistan Union Norway in connection with 70th Pakistan’s Independence Celebrations would be held in Lorenskog city near Oslo, the capital on 19th August. Musharraf will also meet Norwegian authorities and will give a lecture at a Norwegian Think Tank.
Widow of Late Abdul Sattar Edhi Bilguis Ehdi and her son Faisal Edhi would also participate in the program of Pakistan Union Norway.
The event which would be attended by a large number of the people from different walks of life, will be opened for public at 5 pm. All of the arrangements for the program have been finalized so far. European Pakistanis based in other countries of Europe and as well as many guests from Pakistan have been invited.
A statement of Pakistan Union Norway said, during the event, Pervez Musharraf would be given a special award for recognition of his visionary leadership and services for Pakistani nation. Balqis Ehdi would also receive an award for her great contribution for welfare of the humanity. Another leading social worker of Pakistan Mr Sajid Raza Sikka and UK based senior Pakistani journalist and writer Ahmad Nizami will also receive the excellence awards from Pakistan Union due to their noteworthy works in their respective fields.
The statement of Pakistan Union Norway emphasized that the union has always tried its best to invite the leading personalities due to their significant skills in different social and scientific fields and as well as other dignitaries for their key role in nation building.
Beside the main program of the Pakistan’s National Day, the Union will also arrange three separate events of media workshop and seminars on forced marriage and investment in Pakistan in Oslo, the Norwegian capital. The media workshop is being coordinated by senior journalist and Research Scholar Syed Sibtain Shah. Mr Ahmand Nizami and Kausar Khan would also participate in the media workshop.
